AZUMA ARCHITECT & ASSOCIATES
Outline
This is a tenant-type commercial facility built in front of JR Onagawa Station (1509, design: Shigeru Ban). Onagawa Mirai Souzou", a joint-stock company established by the private sector and Onagawa Town, is responsible for the construction and operation of the facility. 70% of the total construction cost is covered by the government's subsidy for locating companies that create jobs in areas affected by the tsunami and nuclear disasters, based on the "Machinaka Revitalization Plan", which is the first case in Japan to be approved. A total of six one-story buildings, five wooden and one steel-framed, straddle the promenade, with gabled roofs of various sizes overlapping to create a landscape. 27 shops are divided into three types and zoned by area.
